ELIGIBILITY

St. John’s CYO Basketball (SJCYO) is part of the Framingham Vicariate CYO League.  It is a moderately competitive program for boys and girls.

League Rules require that players who attend or are affiliated with St. John’s parish or live within its boundaries or have played a prior season at St. John’s should register with St. John’s program.  Geographic boundaries are East of Cliff and Abbott Roads within Wellesley.

Players must be between 9 - 14 years of age on August 31 to be eligible for the upcoming season.  There are three age brackets in the CYO program which are intended to enable team rosters to align school classmates.  For the 2009/10 season, the brackets are determined as follows:

Bracket

Age as of 8/31/2009

Birth Dates

Junior

9-10

9/1/98 - 8/31/00

Bantam

11-12

9/1/96 - 8/31/98

Cadet

13-14

9/1/94 - 8/31/96

PHILOSOPHY & COMMITMENT
The program attempts to balance all teams based on ability demonstrated during the tryout sessions.
All players are assigned with the objective to achieve an even distribution of ability across the many teams in each bracket.

The League recognizes that players have other commitments in addition to CYO Basketball and at times there will be scheduling conflicts that require a choice to be made. Although missing an occasional session is common, regularly missing practices or games goes against the spirit of team commitment.
